Hibiscus Roselle Flower is rich in protein, organic acids, Vc amino acids, a lot of natural pigments and a variety of minerals. The fresh calyx of Hibiscus flower contains Vitamin C0.93%, Vitamin B 0.21%, Protein 0.45%, ash 1.34%, and pectin 1.39 %, moisture 87.86%, carotene 0.01%, starch 1.76%, sugar (calculated as glucose) 2.55%.
Dried calyx of Hibiscus flower contains 1%~1.5% of total anthocyanins (pigments), 10%~15% of organic acids such as citric acid and hibiscus acid, 16% of reducing sugars, 3.5%~7.9% of protein, 25% of other non-nitrogenous substances, fiber 11 %, ash content 12% and about 1%.
In addition, Hibiscus Roselle Flower extract contains reducing sugars, glycosides, roselle polyphenols, a small amount of alkaloids and resins.
